

Thus, the hero swallows his pride and fakes an embarrassing defeat. Spider-Man realizes that to make Doc Ock abort his plans, he will have to help the villain snap out of his phobia. Some time later, in 1988's "Amazing Spider-Man" #296, a still-Spideyphobic Doc Ock decides that the only way to deal with his dreaded enemy is to annihilate everyone in New York with a biological weapon. This causes the villain to develop a severe, irrational fear of the webslinger. Doc Ock's mechanical arms allow him to escape from his ward in 1985's "Web of Spider-Man" #4, and Spider-Man soon discovers how much his formerly lethal sparring partner now fears him. However, Doc Ock ends up being institutionalized after a string of humiliating losses, including a particularly brutal defeat in which Spider-Man says Doc Ock can never hope to defeat him. Against insurmountable odds, he manages to retrieve an expensive serum to save his hospitalized aunt from death. Things come to a head in 1965's "Amazing Spider-Man" #33, when a desperate Spider-Man lays waste to Doc Ock's secret lab. Otto begins a promising career in nuclear research right after graduation, even creating a harness with four metal tentacles that allows him to safely work with deadly chemicals. A year into his studies, however, his father passes away in a work-related accident, leaving him his mother's sole caretaker. After trying to gas Spider-Man, Spider-Man defeated the villains. Unfortunately, this turns her into an overbearing parent with incredibly high expectations of her genius son. Doc Ock with his new Sinister Six planned to take over the world and destroy Spider-Man. Mary, on the other hand, believes that Otto's impressive intellect will help him amount to much more than his father.

The eye shape closley resembles the eyes from the Webbed Suit. The yellow highlights on the suit glow when the suit is worn at night or in dark areas. This color scheme mirrors that of Doctor Octopus' tentacles, emphasizing how this suit is designed specifically for fighting him and his robotic limbs. It is colored black with yellow highlights, featuring a large yellow spider insignia as well as glowing yellow eye lenses. The Anti-Ock suit appears as an armored version of the Advanced Suit, and is thus similar to the latter in terms of design. The suit is later repaired for regular usage. The new suit allows Spider-Man to best Doctor Octopus and finally defeat him, but not before the suit is badly damaged during the fight. Acting quickly, he makes his way to Otto's old lab, and utilizes the materials and lab equipment to help him craft this new suit in order to defeat Otto. After his second encounter with Doctor Octopus, in which he is brutalized by the fallen scientist, Spider-Man realizes that he, as Peter Parker, had helped to design the neural interface allowing Otto to control his new robotic tentacles.
